The first thing I am adding is a Twitter feed as Latest News.
I’ve used SimpleTwitter Modified as I have used it before on another blog of mine but I’ll probably replace it if I can find another Twitter plugin which shows more than one entry.
I have also installed a second Twitter plugin called TwitterPost which posts headlines from this Wordpress blog to my Twitter stream to bring updates on the progress of this project. I am not planning to continue the blog as part of the final portfolio at the moment.
This plugin is technically not part of the final solution unless you want to use the Wordpress blog functionality as part of your portfolio.

Overall Goal
Aim of this site is to create a design portfolio site using social media feeds instead of a traditional, custom built interface.
Indentified elements
These are the core elements I want in my portfolio:
- Profile. This will be my Linkedin profile.
- Portfolio. Not sure, but I think it will have to be a Flickr account.
- Personal work. I tend to do a lot of little doodles so a Tumblr account will be suitable for this.
- News. My Twitter. No surprise there.
- Contact. Think it will be a straight forward Gmail account, unless I find something better like a form.
Other elements could be:
- Intro. Could be a YouTube video
- Social Bookmarking.
I am not planning on adding the following tools, but that is not to say they couldn’t have been added:
- Bookmarks. My del.icio.us
- Interest. Google map with pins to highlight places that interest me (would mostly be restaurants).
- Personal updates. Facebook or MySpace feeds.
- Reviews. My Blippr. I am not adding this as it currently already post directly to my Twitter feed which will be integrated. Besides, it is more for a personal site I think.
Technical
I could have done this using iframes for all the various elements but I want something that looks more integrated.
Most social media tools come with their own API allowing programmers to intergrate their feeds. However, I am not a programmer so do not have the required (PHP) skills to do this.
So instead I will be using Wordpress as a base and use Wordpress plugins to hopefully get the desired result.

It’s 2.30 in the morning.
I couldn’t sleep because I had this idea of how to make a new type of online portfolio based on Wordpress.
So I’ve archived the content previously hosted on this site and turned this domain into a wordpress blog as the first step.
But now the night is catching up with me and I am too sleepy to continue… for now anyway.
Goodnight.
